This event is organized and presented by Main Line Art Center.

Jenny Drumgoole’s Digital Artist in Residence debut coincides with Main Line Art Center’s Happily Ever After Opening Reception and Artist Talks on Friday, October 13 from 5:30-8:00pm.

Her most recent work involves physically and virtually infiltrating competitive events with subversive art actions, which are meant to question our obsessions with celebrity, desire and the limits and illusions of individuality in popular culture. The 2017 Digital Artist in Residence is part of the biennial festival Panorama: Image-Based Art in the 21st Century, a Greater Philadelphia-wide celebration of photography and digital art, coming in the fall of 2018.

'Stack' Font - Industrial Chimney Lettering

'Stack' Font - Industrial Chimney Lettering

This event is organized and presented by Go Welsh  / AIGA Philadelphia

Referencing archival engineering drawings from the early 20th century we have designed a new font, Stack. It is historically true to the spirit of industrial chimney (smokestack) lettering of the period. Masonry chimneys in the industrial age provided strong, clear brand identities for companies and townspeople alike. As the visual language of the industrial age acquiesces we strive to keep the sense of permanence alive that industrial chimney lettering once so clearly expressed.

In our presentation we will:
01) Review the historic aspects of the origins, materials, and size/scale of the industrial chimney lettering
02) Demonstrate the flexibility of the Stack font - horizontal, vertical, ornaments, patterning, borders

Go Welsh and AIGA Philadelphia are exhibiting STACK at Bluecadet, 1526 Frankford Ave. A First Friday opening reception is October 6, 6-9pm.
