This event is organized and presented by the Architectural Glass Institute
This visible display of partnership and collaboration between the Finishing Trades Institute and Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) allowed architecture students and glazier craft workers to complement their classroom instruction with real life experiences. This design-build project sets the stage for the building of articulation agreements between the two institutions and PCOM permitting students to build a seamless academic ladder from high school through graduate school.
Panelists – including student participants—will describe the project from design competition through fabrication with a heavy focus on how design-build education can unite future generations of design and construction professionals.
The competition, course, and installation of MERGE were funded through a FMCS grant received by FTI; AGI managed the program. The partnership initiated a relationship between FTI and Jefferson, which led to development of articulation agreements that allow the seamless transition of earning construction technologies associate degrees through FTI, to construction management bachelor’s degrees through Jefferson, and organizational development master’s degrees through PCOM.
